What is Snap Spell?

Snap Spell is an iPhone spelling practice app (some people search for it as "spell snap") for the word lists students actually bring home. Scan a printed list, import a photo or screenshot, paste text, or type words, then check them before saving; the school's spelling stays exactly as written. Snap Spell reads every word aloud, checks each answer, brings missed words back in Tricky Words, and tracks every word as To Study, Practicing, or Mastered.

Text recognition runs on device, and original scan images are not kept.

Can Snap Spell read spelling words aloud?

Yes. Apple voices read every word for free. On iOS 26 or later, Pro adds Natural voices with American, British, or Australian accents. Each voice downloads once and then plays on the device, and a word missing from the voice pack uses the Apple voice.

What happens to missed words?

They go to Tricky Words. Free shows every tricky word and practices the latest 10 missed words. With Pro, each word comes back on a schedule: the next day, then 3, 7 and 14 days after each on-time right answer, across all lists. Four on-time right answers in a row take a word off the list.

Do American and British spellings both count?

Yes, when your child types answers in Solo Test: common British and American spellings such as colour and color are both marked correct, and straight and curly apostrophes count the same. Your list keeps its spelling exactly as written.

Can I use it for spelling bee practice?

Yes. Add the bee list like any other list. In Practice Together, your child spells each word aloud, the way the bee runs.
