Your own word list
Make a practice list from your own spelling words
Bring in the exact words your child has to learn — from a printed sheet, a photo, a file, or a message — and keep each spelling exactly as the teacher wrote it.
Free to start: 2 word lists of up to 100 words each. Pro: US$2.99/month, US$19.99/year or US$29.99 once (UK £2.99/£19.99/£29.99; Australia A$4.99/A$29.99/A$49.99).
Snap Spell
Can I use my own spelling words?
Yes. Snap Spell only practices words you bring: scan them, import a photo or a file, paste them, or type them, then check the list before saving. Practice always matches the list your child actually has.
Pick the input that matches what you have
Every option ends on the same review screen, so you can mix them: scan the sheet, then type the two words the camera missed.
Paper, photo, or screenshot
Scan Words reads a printed sheet with the camera; Import Photos reads a saved image. Text recognition runs on your iPhone.
PDF, Word, Excel, or text file
Import File reads the document on your iPhone. For an Excel file, choose the worksheets: one list each, or merged into one.
Copied or typed words
Paste / Type Words takes text from a message or email, or words you type one by one.
Keep one list per week
Each list keeps its own title and progress. Pinned lists stay at the top, and Sort orders the rest by newest, recent practice, title, progress, or word count, so last month’s list is still there when its words come back.
Change the list when the teacher does
Bonus words added midweek? Open the list and use Add Words, Scan More, Import Photos, or Import File. To fix a single word, long-press it and choose Edit Word.
Questions about your own list
Can I combine two lists into one?
Yes. When importing an Excel file, merge the selected worksheets into one list. Otherwise, add the extra words to the list you want to keep with Add Words or Import File.
Does it keep British spelling?
Yes. Each word is saved exactly as you approve it, and when your child types answers in Solo Test, common British and American spellings (colour/color) both count as correct.
