Spelling bee practice
Spelling bee practice with a word list you already have
A spelling bee is spelled out loud, one letter at a time, often from a long list. Snap Spell can be the pronouncer, so your child can practice the way the bee will run.
Free to start: 2 word lists of up to 100 words each. Pro: US$2.99/month, US$19.99/year or US$29.99 once (UK £2.99/£19.99/£29.99; Australia A$4.99/A$29.99/A$49.99).
Snap Spell
Can I use Snap Spell for spelling bee practice?
Yes, with a list you already have, such as the school bee list or words you chose. Snap Spell reads each word and keeps track of the misses.
Run a bee-style round at home
Practice Together is closest to the real thing.
- 1 Add the bee list by scanning it, importing the PDF, or pasting it.
- 2 Open the list, choose Practice Together, and under Answers pick Hide until reveal.
- 3 Tap the speaker to play a word. Your child says the spelling letter by letter.
- 4 Tap Show on the word, check each letter, and set it to Mastered or Practicing.
Keep a long list manageable
Bee lists can run to hundreds of words. Use Solo Test with 10 or 20 words per round and Most missed first, so each session is short and starts with the hard words. Missed words return in Tricky Words over the following weeks.
The last week before the bee
Switch to Shuffled order, so your child cannot rely on the order of the list, and run through all the words. Words still marked Practicing are the ones to spend the final evenings on.
