Please include your Mac model, macOS version, Auto Ducking version, output device, microphone app, and a short description of what happened.

01

The volume does not lower

Check that Auto Duck is on in the status panel, that the microphone app is in use, and that your app rules in Settings > Apps include that app. Test Lower Volume in Settings > Ducking shows whether your current sound output can be controlled.

02

Calls and voice chats

With “During Calls” on, a video or voice call stays at full volume, and Auto Ducking lowers the volume only when something else is playing. To lower every time your microphone turns on, including voice chats where an assistant talks back, switch it off in Settings > Ducking.

03

Volume restore

If the volume comes back too quickly or too slowly, adjust Restore Delay and the fades in Settings > Ducking. Restore Now brings the volume straight back and keeps it up until your microphone turns off.

04

Output devices

Each sound output keeps its own level, so speakers, headphones, displays, and AirPods can each feel right. Some outputs, such as certain HDMI and USB devices, let only the device itself set the volume; the status panel tells you when that is the case.

05

Shortcuts and presets

Use global shortcuts to pause Auto Ducking, restore the volume, lower it manually, or open the status panel. Auto Ducking has a Default preset plus Preset 1 to 3, all renamable, so you can save a setup for dictation, recording, podcast prep, or your own workflow.

06

Purchases

Every feature is free for 7 days. After that, a one-time Lifetime Unlock keeps automatic lowering on. If you bought it before, use Restore Purchases in Settings > About.

07

Privacy questions

Auto Ducking checks whether the microphone is in use and adjusts the system volume. It never records, transcribes, or uploads audio. Anonymous crash reports can be turned off in Settings > General.
